Thanks for this, Claudia. It was the perfect antidote to watching Per Oscarsson in "Hunger" a few days ago. I never would have guessed Picasso was capable of such light-heartedness, the kind that inspired him to paint a smiley face on a dancing goat!

Hamsun has been on my reading list for years. This is one of the few paintings where I could have guessed the title just by looking at it (and despite all the shades of blue in it which - as the english language brilliantly tells us - is not the color I'd associate with happiness)
